“Staying active is an important part of who I am. For me, that doesn’t just mean training in the gym, but also walking long distances with my prosthesis. One of my biggest passions is walking the Camino de Santiago – sometimes for weeks, step by step, with everything I need on my back.
Before osseointegration, I often noticed limitations, especially when it came to stability and predictability over long days of walking. With a traditional socket system, discomfort and insecurity could build up over time. That’s why I decided to switch to osseointegration.
Since then, I feel much more connected to my prosthesis. My movements feel stable and natural, whether I’m training in the gym to prepare my body or walking many kilometers a day on the Camino. I don’t have to constantly think about my prosthesis, which allows me to focus on the journey itself.
Training in the gym plays an important role in my preparation for long-distance walking. Osseointegration gives me the confidence to train with focus and consistency, without worrying about the prosthesis shifting or needing constant adjustments. This carries over into everyday life as well – walking, climbing stairs, and moving through different terrains feel more intuitive.
I share my journey on Instagram, where I talk honestly about walking the Camino with a prosthesis and how osseointegration supports an active lifestyle. Not to exaggerate anything, but to show what is possible and how this method of attachment works for me in real life. It supports the way I move and helps me keep going – one step at a time..”

"The Luci connector is very easy to attach to the osseointegration implant system and very user-friendly because it requires little strength to done and doff the prostheses. I hope to join the climb of the Alpe d’Huez by bike. For that I will work-out a lot this summer. My running and cycling experiences are encouraging after osseointegration combined with the Luci connector, which I definitely recommend."

"The first years after my accident, I walked with a socket prosthesis with which I got a lot of problems with my stump. The big pluses of osseointegration are the ease of use and the fact that I can walk for miles at a time without pain. I walk an average of 10 to 15 kilometers a day, without any problems. After using a number of different connectors, I recently got a Luci connector from OTN Innovations, this connector ensures that there is no more play in the adapter, which makes walking a lot easier. It also looks nice and robust and is easy to set up as an end-user."
